Finance Options

We are pleased to be able to offer some financing solutions for both professional contractors and retail clients.

(Regarding financing conditions and other relevant details, please download and read all relevant information supplied by our financing partner, Finance Now. All financing will be according to their terms and conditions.)

For Professional Clients:

Apart from your own time, fuel and maintenance will make up a high proportion of your monthly outgoings. These costs can be greatly reduced by introducing Mean Green Electric Mowers into your fleet.

Quite simply, the savings in fuel and maintenance will save you money, and can be used for a financing package, if required, that will provide your business with a new edge, and more importantly, a healthier work enviroment for yourself and staff.

The process: how to evaluate the financial, and added-plus, benefits of purchasing a Mean Green Electric Mower.

We have used the two-battery version of the SK-48 stand-on, as an example.

  1. Decide the budget that you are willing to spend on a similar-classed petrol machine. Similar-classed means, the same size deck (48 inch) and quality of workmanship.  This number could be anything between $24,000 to $32,000 (excl GST), but we will take a conservative approach and use $24,000.
  2. Next work out how much you will spend on petrol over the life of the mower. 6.25 litres per hour is an average fuel consumption number for a petrol mower. 6.25 x the price of petrol ($2 per litre) equates to $12.50 per hour. If we are conservative and take 750 hours per year for operation time, this gives us $9,375 per year in fuel costs. If we replace a mower every five years, this means the fuel spend over the life of your petrol mower is $46,875
  3. Electricity costs for the SK-48 are estimated at $510.75 per (750 hour) year, or $2,553.75 over 5 years. So, the savings in fuel costs are $46,875 minus $2,553.75 = $44,321.25
  4.  Electric mowers have much fewer moving parts, no belts, oil filters, etc, etc. So, general maintenance requirements are much less, apart from sharpening of blades which is the same for all mowers.

If we take a conservative average over 5 years of $3 per hour difference in maintenance costs, this gives us 750 hours x $3 = $2,250 per year in savings. Or a difference of $11,250 over 5 years.

  • If we add the total difference in fuel costs of $44,321.25 plus the $11,250 in extra maintenance costs, we find the petrol machine costs $55,571.25 more to operate than the Mean Green SK-48 over the same machine life.
  • Take your initial budget of $24,000, add $55,571.25 = $79,571.25  – this is the real cost of your petrol machine.
  • $79,571.25 minus the SK-48 price of around $33,000 reveals that you are $46,571.25 better off financially with the Mean Green SK-48 purchase.
  • The financial gain of $46,571.25 works out at $776.19 per month over 5 years.
  • If financing the full amount for a Mean Green SK-48 (around $33,000), the monthly payments would be approximately $718.00 per month.
  • As you can see, in this example, even when financing the full machine purchase, your monthly outgoings reduce – and, don’t forget to factor in all the other benefits of operating an electric machine:
  • Happier existing clients, and the potential to gain more, thanks to quiet, sustainable operation.
  • Healthier environment for you and your clients.

We encourage you to use your own fuel and maintenance numbers and follow the process outlined above – this will allow you to arrive at a purchase decision based on real numbers.

The same logic can be used for any of our models, so please contact us and we would be more than happy to help you through the process.

For retail clients:

The process – how to evaluate the financial, and added-plus, benefits of purchasing a Mean Green Electric Mower. We have used the Nemesis, our most popular lifestye machine as an example.

  1. Decide the budget that you are willing to spend on a similar-classed petrol machine. Similar-classed means, the same size deck (48 or 52 inch) and quality of workmanship.  This number could be anything between $19,000 to $29,000 (incl GST), but we will take a conservative approach and use $19,000.
  • Next work out how much you will spend on petrol over the life of the mower. 6.25 litres per hour is an average number for a petrol ride-on.

The Nemesis will mow for 2.5 hours (2 hectares), so a petrol mower will use 6.25 x 2.5 (15.63) litres for the same job. Take $2.00 per litre for your price of petrol and you arrive at $31.25 per weekly mow. You may mow less in winter, or more in spring, but we will say one mow per week. This gives you a total number for the year of $1,625 for petrol.

  • Consider a conservative 10-year life of a Nemesis and we find that you will save $16,250 in petrol over the same period. Electricity costs for the Nemesis are estimated at $44.27 per year, or $440.27 over 10 years. So, the savings in fuel costs are $16,250 minus $440.27 = $15,809.73
  •  Electric mowers have much fewer moving parts, no belts, oil filters, etc, etc. So, general maintenance requirements are much less, apart from sharpening of blades which is the same for all mowers.
  • If we take a conservative average over 10 years of $3 per hour difference in maintenance costs, this gives us 2.5 hours per week = 130 hours per year = $390 per year, or a difference of $3,900 over 10 years.
  • If we add the total difference in fuel costs of $15,809.73 plus the $3,900 in extra maintenance costs we find the petrol machine costs $19,709.73 more to operate than the Mean Green Nemesis over the same machine life.
  • Take your initial budget of $19,000, add $19,709.73 = $38,709.73  – this is the real cost of your petrol machine.
  • $38,709.73 minus the Nemesis price of $26,750 reveals that you are $11,959.73 better off financially with the Mean Green Nemesis purchase.
  • If you take your initial petrol machine budget ($19,000) and finance the remainder ($7,750) to purchase the Nemesis your monthly financing cost will be around $160 per month. Operating your petrol machine costs $131.75 more for fuel, and $32.50 more for maintenance per month.  So, your petrol machine costs you $164.25 per month. A simple calculation, but you can see how, even with a higher initial cost, you can lower your monthly outgoings by purchasing a Mean Green Nemesis.

Each person’s situation will be different, and the numbers outlined above will change accordingly, but please call or email and we will happily take you through the evaluation process. And, don’t forget all those other benefits:

  1. Quiet operation.
  2. No running to the petrol station for fuel.
  3. No oil filters or belts to change.
  4. Quality cut and finish
